Tragic Loss: Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies Following Electric Shock in Al Ain

Thu, Aug 27, 2026(2h ago)UAE

A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded in Al Ain, where an eight-year-old boy named Waleed Khaled lost his life following a fatal electric shock. The young boy was playing with his older brother, Ahmed, and friends near their home when they approached a water cooler situated outside a nearby residence. According to Ahmed, one of their playmates collapsed after touching the unit. Thinking it was a prank, Waleed moved closer to investigate, but as he leaned in, he made direct contact with the cooler and suffered a severe shock that caused him to collapse instantly.

The boy’s father rushed to the scene after being alerted by Ahmed, only to find his son unresponsive with visible burn marks on his body. Despite being rushed to the hospital by ambulance, doctors were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead. The loss has devastated his family and school community, especially as Waleed had been eagerly preparing for the start of the new academic year. While it remains unclear why the water cooler became electrified or if an official investigation has been launched, the community is mourning the memory of a young boy described by his teachers and peers as polite and well-mannered.
