UAE Cafe Honors Employee with Signature Drink After Viral Flag Rescue

Fri, Aug 28, 2026(4h ago)UAE

Priya Shivakoti, a 21-year-old Nepali expatriate working in Al Ain, recently captured the hearts of thousands after a video of her braving a thunderstorm to rescue a fallen UAE flag went viral. The footage, captured by a customer, shows Priya instinctively stepping out into the harsh weather to retrieve the flag after strong winds knocked it over. Despite the turbulent conditions and her colleagues' concerns for her safety, her simple, heartfelt act of respect resonated deeply with the local community, turning the young waitress into a symbol of national loyalty and duty.

In a heartwarming show of appreciation, her workplace, Key Cafe, has introduced a signature drink titled the 'Priya V60' in her honor. The establishment is also donating a percentage of the proceeds from this new menu item directly to Priya. Her story has since inspired a surge of visitors to the cafe, with many locals dropping by to thank her personally for her gesture. For Priya, who initially arrived in the UAE as a tourist before deciding to build a career in the country, this outpouring of love serves as a powerful validation of her decision to make the UAE her home, as she continues working toward her ultimate goal of providing a better life for her family back in Nepal.
