UAE Pledges $10 Million to Support Nepal Flood and Landslide Relief Efforts

Fri, Aug 28, 2026(4h ago)UAE

In a significant humanitarian gesture, the UAE has committed US$10 million to assist Nepal following the catastrophic floods and landslides that have left hundreds dead and many more missing. Acting on the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Aid Agency is coordinating with local and international partners to deliver emergency supplies. This aid is part of a broader commitment to global solidarity, with teams currently working on the ground to provide essential support to the most vulnerable victims, including families and children affected by the devastation.

The situation remains critical as search and rescue operations continue in the debris-stricken regions along the Nepal-Tibet border. With over 1,000 people still missing and significant damage to infrastructure—including major routes used by pilgrims and trekkers—the disaster has left thousands isolated in mountain valleys. Furthermore, authorities have issued warnings regarding potential secondary floods caused by rising water levels near the Bhotekoshi river, prompting urgent evacuations as rescue teams navigate the complex landscape to find survivors, including hundreds of foreign nationals who remain unaccounted for.
