UAE Issues Fog Alerts as Temperatures Soar to 48ºC
Residents across the UAE should prepare for a mix of hazy and partly cloudy conditions this Saturday, August 29. While the morning began with dense fog prompting red and yellow visibility alerts from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), these conditions cleared by mid-morning. However, motorists in Abu Dhabi were briefly urged to exercise caution as speed limits were temporarily reduced on certain roads to account for the diminished visibility, particularly along the western coastal regions.
As the day progresses, the weather is expected to remain hot, with mercury levels hitting a sweltering 48ºC in certain parts of the country. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are bracing for highs of 46ºC and 44ºC respectively, with humidity levels set to rise as night falls and rolls into Sunday morning. While light to moderate winds will provide some movement, gusts reaching up to 40kmph may stir up dust, and there is a slight chance of convective clouds forming over eastern areas by the afternoon. Despite the heat, maritime conditions remain stable, with only slight sea states expected in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
