The life-changing medical care was made possible by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who stepped in to sponsor the costly procedure after hearing the family’s desperate public appeal. Katia’s mother, Noor, expressed profound relief and gratitude, noting that the medical team has already begun preliminary examinations to prepare for the critical gene-therapy injection.

The family had been engaged in a harrowing race against time, as the specialized treatment required for Katia’s rare condition is unavailable in Jordan and carries a staggering price tag of $2.4 million. After an online fundraising campaign fell short of the necessary funds, the family reached out to the Ruler of Dubai, whose swift response provided the financial security needed to proceed before Katia reaches the two-year treatment milestone. For her parents, the intervention has been a source of immense hope, allowing them to finally breathe easier as they focus on their daughter's path to recovery.
