Dubai Health Authority Bans Exaggerated Medical Advertising Claims
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has introduced strict new guidelines for healthcare professionals and clinics regarding how they promote their services on social media. To protect patients and maintain professional standards, clinics are now prohibited from using hyperbolic language that implies guaranteed outcomes. Terms such as âno side effects,â â100% effective,â âmagic,â âmiraculous,â or claiming to be âthe bestâ or âthe onlyâ provider are strictly banned. The move aims to eliminate misleading marketing tactics that create unrealistic expectations or take advantage of a patient's limited medical knowledge.
Beyond banning specific buzzwords, the regulations mandate that all medical advertising must be backed by credible, peer-reviewed research and scientific evidence. Furthermore, providers are required to clearly disclose the potential risks associated with any surgical or invasive procedure, ensuring that patients are not making decisions based on incomplete information. Moving forward, advertisements should focus on transparent details such as official qualifications, contact information, and verified services, rather than attempting to undermine competitors or induce fear to drive demand for medical interventions.
