As schools in Dubai welcome students back for the 2026–2027 academic year, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has proudly announced that the city’s school zones have maintained a zero-fatality record since 2010. Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, attributed this impressive achievement to a combination of rigorous engineering improvements and ongoing safety awareness initiatives. Despite this success, officials are stressing the importance of continued vigilance, as recent data indicates that nearly half of all students still commute via private vehicles, leading to increased traffic congestion near campus entrances during peak hours.

To ensure this safe streak continues, the RTA is urging parents to ditch dangerous habits like double parking, which frequently obstructs visibility and creates hazardous environments for young pedestrians. Authorities are reminding motorists to stick to designated drop-off zones, avoid rushing, and remain hyper-aware of children crossing the street. Alongside these warnings, the RTA has relaunched several educational programs, such as "Golden Rules for Generations’ Safety," to instill better road habits in students. By emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility, officials hope that both parents and drivers will prioritize caution over convenience to protect children throughout the new school year.
