Abu Dhabi is set to make history this month as it hosts its first-ever international professional sumo tournament at the Space42 Arena. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, this landmark event brings the storied heritage of Japan’s national sport to the UAE. The competition will feature nine elite wrestlers from Japan, Mongolia, and Egypt, including prestigious Emperor’s Cup winners and world champions, who will go head-to-head in 36 high-stakes bouts.

Beyond the raw intensity of the wrestling, the event offers a cultural immersion into the centuries-old rituals that define the sport.
