Building Digital Trust: A Multidimensional Approach for the UAE

Thu, Sep 3, 2026(1h ago)UAE

At the third annual FutureSec conference in Dubai, industry experts emphasized that modern digital trust is far more complex than just installing robust cybersecurity systems. Leaders, including Abdulla Alsuwaidi from the Dubai Electronic Security Center, argued that a truly resilient digital economy requires a multidimensional strategy. This approach moves beyond simple technical regulations to incorporate secure identities, transparent accountability, and active cooperation between government and private sectors. As emerging technologies like AI evolve faster than current policy frameworks, experts suggest that organizations must adopt "resilience by design," assuming that breaches are inevitable and focusing instead on how to maintain operations during an attack.

The panel also highlighted that the human element remains a critical vulnerability, prompting many to advocate for a "Zero Trust" model where no user or device is granted access by default. Experts like Ali Katkhada and Ebrahim Al Alkeem Al Zaabi stressed that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that cannot be offloaded solely to IT departments; it requires clear ownership and radical transparency. Ultimately, as businesses navigate a global landscape with fragmented regulations, the consensus was clear: building public trust requires a unified commitment to accountability and a proactive, collaborative approach to managing systemic risks across all sectors.
