The AI Surge: Why Cybersecurity Leaders Are Bracing for an Agent-Driven Future

Fri, Sep 4, 2026(21h ago)UAE

A major shift is underway in the corporate landscape as experts predict that artificial intelligence agents will soon outnumber human employees by a ratio of 46 to 1. During the third annual FutureSec conference in the UAE, Delinea’s Mortada Ayad emphasized that this rapid proliferation of autonomous agents is no longer a hypothetical scenario but an impending reality. Unlike traditional digital transformation—which typically follows a top-down leadership strategy—the adoption of AI is unfolding from the bottom up, driven by individual users already integrating these tools into their daily workflows.

To manage this transition, industry leaders are shifting their security focus from mere access control to action-based oversight. Shashi Punjabi noted that while humans will remain in the loop, we are moving toward a multi-agent environment that requires a new framework for safety. Experts like Vijay Velayutham suggest treating these agents as high-privileged users with distinct identities and accountability. By utilizing strategies like the "VET AI" framework—which emphasizes mission validation and system monitoring—organizations can better mitigate the risks posed by autonomous systems that now have the capability to access sensitive data once reserved solely for human hands.
