The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has officially issued a pardon for Abdul Rahman Yusuf Al Qaradawi. This decision follows a ruling delivered on August 27 by the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal’s Cyber Crimes Department, which had previously sentenced Al Qaradawi to ten years in prison and imposed a fine of Dh200,000. He was convicted on charges related to activities intended to compromise public security and incite social unrest.

In the wake of this presidential decree, authorities have already begun the formal processes required to implement the pardon. Al Qaradawi’s initial imprisonment followed his extradition from Lebanon last year, which was carried out based on a provisional arrest warrant and a formal request from the UAE, adhering to established international reciprocity and legal protocols between the two nations.
