The Abu Dhabi Commercial Court of First Instance has mandated that a father must pay Dh197,680 in outstanding tuition fees for his children after he failed to settle his financial obligations with a private school. During the legal proceedings, a woman was also held jointly liable for a portion of this debt—specifically Dh142,800—after a cheque issued from her bank account to cover the fees was rejected due to intentional payment irregularities. Both parties were further ordered to pay the school Dh3,000 in additional compensation, alongside covering legal and court costs.

The school presented a robust case supported by invoices, statements, and a previous criminal judgment regarding the bounced cheque. While the woman attempted to distance herself from the dispute by claiming no involvement, the court dismissed her defense, noting that she failed to prove the debt had been settled or that she held no responsibility for the account used. Similarly, the father was unable to counter the school's evidence or provide proof of payment, leaving the court with no choice but to enforce the full settlement of the arrears.
