International Stabilisation Force Poised to Expand as Gaza Roadmap Advances

Mon, Sep 7, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Nicolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace’s High Representative for Gaza, recently announced at the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi that two additional nations are expected to join the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in the near future. Mladenov noted that preparations for the mission are proceeding as planned, with the force intended to oversee the training of a new Palestinian police unit, facilitate the decommissioning of weapons, and act as a buffer during the Israeli military withdrawal. He emphasized that this structured approach, which includes a system of checks and balances between Israeli and Hamas commitments, is essential for transitioning from conflict to stabilization.

Beyond the immediate security arrangements, Mladenov highlighted the urgent need for reconstruction, warning that current conditions are untenable for Palestinians as winter approaches. He presented the Board of Peace’s roadmap—which prioritizes disarmament, troop withdrawal, and early recovery—as the only logical path forward, potentially paving the way for elections by November. While acknowledging the challenges, Mladenov stressed that a negotiated two-state solution remains the ultimate goal for long-term peace. With $7 billion in reconstruction pledges already secured, the international community continues to focus on moving beyond the current crisis to establish a sustainable political future for both Palestinians and Israelis.
