In a significant move to support its workforce, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has announced salary increases for over 3,000 government employees in higher-grade positions. This initiative, which comes at an annual cost of more than Dh160 million, also extends to retirees, with an additional allocation of Dh37 million. The adjustments specifically target key professionals, including doctors, engineers, pharmacists, and medical technicians. Furthermore, the government is extending financial support to over 1,400 beneficiaries under the Social Services Department, ensuring greater economic stability for those in need.

Beyond financial adjustments, Sharjah is modernizing its labor market by introducing a new part-time work system tailored for retirees, the elderly, and their spouses. This policy allows for flexible schedules, such as three-day work weeks or shortened daily hours, aimed at helping citizens balance professional responsibilities with family life. In parallel with these structural changes, the government is ramping up its nationalization efforts, with the Human Resources Department tasked to recruit 1,200 additional citizens this year. This pushes the emirate closer to its ambitious target of hiring 3,000 Emirati nationals by 2026, building on the 1,800 already employed since the start of the year.
