Dubai Police Dismantle Gang Behind Systematic Truck Fuel Thefts

Tue, May 12, 2026(101d ago)UAE

Dubai Police have successfully dismantled a criminal network responsible for a string of diesel thefts from heavy trucks parked in the Jebel Ali area. The gang utilized a sophisticated method, modifying 4x4 vehicles with internal pumps, hoses, and hidden storage tanks to siphon fuel quickly from unattended vehicles. By targeting trucks in isolated spots, the suspects were able to drain fuel tanks undetected before fleeing the scene, with the stolen diesel subsequently sold for illicit financial gain.

Following a surge in reports, specialized criminal investigation teams ramped up surveillance and patrols across the district, which eventually led to the apprehension of two Syrian nationals with prior criminal records. The suspects are now in the custody of the Public Prosecution, which is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the full scope of their activities. In light of this, authorities are urging logistics companies and drivers to exercise caution by parking only in monitored, secure locations and ensuring fuel tanks are properly locked to prevent further incidents.
