The United Arab Emirates is playing a pivotal role in Nepal’s recovery, deploying specialized teams and high-tech equipment to assist with ongoing search and rescue efforts. Dubai Police search and rescue experts, equipped with advanced drones for aerial surveying and 3D mapping, are actively operating in the hard-hit Rasuwa District. These technological capabilities have been crucial for navigating difficult terrain and identifying the locations of missing persons. Complementing these technical operations, the UAE has launched a massive humanitarian airlift, delivering 186 tonnes of essential supplies—including tents, food, power generators, and emergency shelter—directly to the affected regions. Additionally, Dubai Humanitarian, under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, successfully transported an extra 74 tonnes of relief items via Emirates SkyCargo to further bolster the local aid response.

This international support comes at a critical time as the death toll from the catastrophic floods continues to climb, with over 1,300 lives lost and thousands still reported missing. As local authorities work to verify casualty numbers and coordinate relief, rescue teams are focusing their efforts on vital infrastructure and hydropower projects where individuals remain trapped. The disaster, triggered by a glacial and mountain collapse near the China-Nepal border, has laid bare the vulnerabilities of the region to climate change. With significant damage to roads and homes, Nepal now faces an arduous path to recovery, with officials estimating that reconstruction efforts could ultimately cost billions of dollars.
