On Tuesday, September 22, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, joined royal family members and numerous dignitaries at the Za'abeel Grand Mosque to hold funeral prayers for the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The atmosphere was somber as the deceased, draped in the UAE flag in recognition of his status as a distinguished royal, was carried into the mosque by his relatives, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed.

Sheikh Ahmed, the youngest son of Dubai’s founder, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, was remembered for his significant contributions to the nation’s growth, including his service as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Services and his leadership at Al Wasl Sports Club. In honor of his legacy, Dubai has initiated a 10-day mourning period, with flags displayed at half-mast across the emirate. Official condolences are being held over three days to allow the community to pay their respects to the royal family during this difficult time.
