Sharjah has officially integrated into the UAE’s national passenger railway network with the opening of the new Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid. Located in the Muragabat area, this vital transport hub now serves as a key gateway for central Sharjah and surrounding communities like Shawka, providing a seamless link to both Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Passengers can now enjoy efficient travel times, with the journey to Abu Dhabi taking just over an hour and the trip to Fujairah clocking in at a quick 25 minutes.

For local residents, the new station is being hailed as a transformative development, particularly for those who previously faced difficulties with long-distance travel. Commuters, including students and patients traveling to the capital for medical appointments, have already expressed their relief, noting that the train offers a reliable and comfortable alternative to road transport. The station itself is well-equipped with modern amenities, including ticket machines, a prayer room, and dedicated first-aid facilities, while connectivity is further bolstered by three new bus routes, accessible taxi services, and complimentary parking for visitors.
