Residents of Al Taawun are breathing a sigh of relief as authorities announce the scheduled reopening of Al Taawun Square on November 4. Following months of challenging road diversions and construction-related congestion, the community is optimistic that the new signalised intersection will offer much-needed relief. This upgrade is part of a massive Dh750-million infrastructure initiative, which includes a 500-metre tunnel designed to connect Al Taawun Street, Al Nahda Bridge, and Dubai. By modernising these key routes, officials expect to boost traffic capacity by 4,200 vehicles per hour in each direction, potentially slashing commute times by as much as 85 per cent.

While the ongoing construction has undoubtedly complicated daily routines—with many residents forced to plan their errands around peak traffic or navigate blocked access points—the mood remains largely positive.
