Sharjah Invests Over Dh1.2 Billion in Regional Infrastructure Growth
Sharjah is currently pushing forward with an ambitious development agenda, funneling more than Dh1.2 billion into essential infrastructure across its Eastern and Central regions for 2026. Spearheaded by the Sharjah Department of Public Works, this massive investment covers a wide array of sectors, including education, tourism, public parks, and high-end sports facilities. In the Eastern Region alone, over Dh834 million is being utilized, with Kalba receiving a significant portion of these funds to support major projects like the Victoria International School, a state-of-the-art sports complex at the University of Kalba, and specialized centers for the disabled. Meanwhile, Khorfakkan and Dibba Al Hisn are seeing improvements ranging from new nurseries and civil defense centers to waterfront amenities, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
The Central Region is also seeing a heavy emphasis on academic and community growth, with over Dh386 million dedicated to projects that cater to the needs of a rising population. Education remains the top priority here, highlighted by the establishment of the Victoria International School in Al Dhaid and a grand theater at the University of Al Dhaid. Beyond schools, the region is benefiting from unique infrastructure investments such as a modern equestrian club in Mleiha, a new camel market, and expanded green spaces. By aligning these efforts with the strategic directives of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the emirate is working to ensure that its public facilities are not only built to high standards but are also efficiently delivered to support Sharjah’s long-term urban and social development.
