Sheikh Abdullah Reaches Out to Israeli Counterpart Following Flydubai Security Incident
UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently held a telephone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to discuss a concerning security incident involving a flydubai flight. The aircraft, which was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was forced to divert to Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia following an onboard altercation. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his deep concern for the passengers and crew, extending his well-wishes for their safety and health while conveying his regards to the affected families.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that the diversion was a necessary precautionary measure to manage the disturbance. While the situation was successfully brought under control, the airline had to arrange a replacement flight to transport the passengers to their final destination. Regrettably, some crew members sustained injuries during the scuffle and were promptly hospitalized in Saudi Arabia for medical treatment. Beyond the emergency response, the two ministers took the opportunity to review bilateral ties and share perspectives on the broader developments currently unfolding across the region.
