Four UAE-Based Companies Honoured for Advancing Gender Balance
The UAE Gender Balance Council recently celebrated the 2026 SDG5 Pledge Awards, honoring four major companies for their tangible efforts in fostering workplace equality and female leadership. Held under the theme âFrom Pledge to Impact,â the awards recognized Standard Chartered Bank UAE, ADNOC, Schneider Electric, and Deloitte Middle East for moving beyond mere commitments to implement meaningful, policy-driven change. These organizations stood out for their diverse approaches, ranging from progressive parental leave and flexible working conditions to robust mentorship programs and ambitious targets for female representation in senior decision-making roles.
The success of these winners highlights a shifting corporate culture where gender equity is viewed as a strategic leadership responsibility rather than just an HR task. For instance, Standard Chartered was lauded for its inclusive parental leave policies, while ADNOC has seen significant growth in female leadership, aiming for 30 percent representation by 2028. Similarly, Schneider Electric is bridging the gap for young women in technical fields through targeted student programs, and Deloitte Middle East is prioritizing family-focused support to balance professional and personal life. As these companies continue to scale their initiatives, the UAE Gender Balance Council reports that more organizations are following suit, with several firms now committing to reach 50 percent gender parity within the next few years.
