UAE President Honors Childhood Mentor on World Teachers’ Day
In a touching gesture on World Teachers’ Day, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan shared a nostalgic look into his past by posting a rare 1971 photograph featuring his childhood teacher, Ahmed Ibrahim Mandi. The vintage image, which bears a heartfelt personal inscription from the President, serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between mentors and their students. Sheikh Mohamed used this occasion to salute the "noble mission" of educators, emphasizing their critical role in nurturing a generation that is both rooted in its identity and equipped to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving future.
Joining in the tribute, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice-President of the UAE, offered his own moving message to the nation’s educators. Drawing from his book, The Letters, he described teachers as the true "engineers of minds" who provide the foundation for lifelong decision-making and critical thinking. By honoring those responsible for shaping the nation’s leaders and professionals, both leaders underscored the profound, lifelong impact that dedicated teachers leave on their students and the country as a whole.
