Six-man gang jailed in Dubai for Dh10-million bank robbery
A criminal court in Dubai has handed down a seven-year prison sentence to six men involved in a sophisticated scheme to rob bank clients. The group operated with a calculated approach, renting a hideout apartment and using a getaway vehicle to track victims who had just withdrawn large sums of money. After identifying a corporate employee carrying a significant cash deposit, the gang coordinated their efforts to intercept the victim, forcibly take the money, and flee the scene. While Dubai Police were able to recover a portion of the funds, the court held the group fully accountable for the heist.
Following their jail time, all defendants face mandatory deportation. The six primary culprits were hit with a massive fine matching the stolen amount, while a seventh defendant—a woman who assisted by concealing the gang and the illicit cash—received a one-month sentence and a smaller fine. With the criminal proceedings finalized and the defendants’ liability firmly established, the victim has now turned to civil court to seek compensation for the remainder of the stolen funds and the damages incurred during the ordeal.
