Dubai Launches Heritage Village to Support Senior Citizens
In a thoughtful initiative to boost the well-being of the elderly, Dubai’s Awqaf has teamed up with the Emirates Association for Care and Welfare of Parents in Ras Al Khaimah to launch a new "heritage village." Supported by the Al Sayah Endowment Fund, this community-driven project is designed to serve over 150 senior citizens, offering them a space that promotes a higher quality of life while honoring Emirati national identity.
The village is thoughtfully designed to blend tradition with modern needs, featuring 14 shops that celebrate local crafts and culture, alongside dedicated zones for social interaction, health, and fitness. According to Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, this facility serves as a blueprint for using endowment funds to create sustainable social programs. By providing a vibrant environment for cultural and recreational events, the initiative seeks to keep seniors active, connected, and deeply integrated into the fabric of public life for generations to come.
