Name the Giants: Help Name the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi’s Newest Icons
The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi has kicked off an exciting initiative, inviting the public to help name two of its most prestigious prehistoric and natural treasures: an incredibly rare, near-complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton and a massive 25-meter blue whale. These chosen names will be immortalized alongside the specimens, becoming a part of educational exhibits and museum history for generations to come. Organizers are encouraging applicants to channel their inner storyteller and scientist, specifically looking for creative suggestions that resonate well in both Arabic and English.
Those interested in participating have until October 25 to submit their ideas through the official museum website. The process is straightforward: users simply select which "giant" they want to name, provide their suggestion along with a brief explanation, and enter their contact details. There is no cap on how many entries a person can submit, and the contest is open to all ages, though minors will need parental consent to take part. A panel of experts from the museum and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will review the submissions, with the winning names set to be unveiled this November. Winners will also be honored with a commemorative prize to mark their contribution to the museum's legacy.
