Cracking Down on Unsafe Riding: Dubai Police Seize Over 400 E-Scooters in Naif

Mon, Oct 5, 2026(1h ago)UAE

In a recent road safety crackdown, Dubai Police confiscated 408 electric scooters, e-bikes, and bicycles in the busy Gold Souk area of Naif. The operation, led by the Naif Police Station in coordination with the General Department of Traffic, targeted riders who were flagrantly ignoring traffic regulations. Officials noted that 300 e-scooters, 50 electric bikes, and 58 standard bicycles were seized, with legal measures promptly taken against the offenders to ensure the streets remain safe for both motorists and pedestrians.

Beyond enforcement, the campaign prioritized public education to prevent future violations. Authorities reached nearly 1,000 individuals, providing guidance on the necessity of using designated cycling paths and wearing essential protective gear. Expert Brigadier Omar Mousa Ashour emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to minimize accidents, warning that riding in prohibited zones creates unnecessary confusion for drivers. Moving forward, the police intend to keep up these awareness initiatives to foster a culture of road safety and responsibility among all commuters.
