Dubai to Host Special Summit on Navigating Global Crises Through Knowledge
On November 24, Dubai will host a special one-day edition of the Knowledge Summit, aimed at addressing how nations can leverage data and expertise to better prepare for climate, economic, and technological instability. Organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the UNDP, the event focuses on the theme âKnowledge: Navigating Crises in a Changing World.â Beyond tackling global disruptions, the summit will feature the official launch of the latest Global Knowledge Index and celebrate recipients of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, which honors those transforming information into tangible community development.
Looking ahead, officials announced a shift in the scheduling of the full-scale event. The 11th Knowledge Summit, originally slated for this November, has been rescheduled for April 21â22, 2027. Dr. Hany Torky of the UNDP emphasized that the upcoming November gathering will serve as a vital platform to discuss findings from ongoing knowledge policy work. He underscored that the Global Knowledge Index acts as a diagnostic tool for policymakers to identify systemic gaps rather than merely serving as a competitive ranking. Furthermore, the initiative continues to support education in conflict-affected regions, having already provided resources to over 50,000 learners in areas like Gaza and Iraq to ensure that crises do not permanently hinder human development.
