UAE and Eurasian Union Launch Landmark Trade Deal to Boost Economic Ties
A significant new trade corridor is now operational following the official activation of the UAE-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Economic Partnership Agreement. This strategic deal opens up preferential market access between the UAE and five member nations: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. By eliminating or reducing tariffs on roughly 86% of traded goods, the agreement is set to streamline customs procedures and remove long-standing trade barriers, with officials projecting that annual bilateral trade could surge to nearly $50 billion by 2032.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, emphasized that this partnership serves as a vital platform for manufacturers and exporters, fostering greater resilience in supply chains while boosting sectors like agriculture, logistics, and technology. Beyond just trade volume, the deal positions the UAE as a primary gateway for Eurasian businesses looking to expand into African, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets. This initiative is a core component of the UAEâs broader economic diversification strategy, reinforcing its status as a global hub by connecting high-growth regions through transparent, rules-based trade frameworks.
