UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has officially congratulated Saudi Arabia on their recent Arabian Gulf Cup triumph, marking the nation's first tournament title in 22 years. Taking to X, the President extended his warm regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people. He specifically highlighted the impressive display of sportsmanship from both teams during the final in Jeddah and commended the hosts for their seamless organization of the event, wishing them well for future athletic endeavors.
The championship match concluded with a 2-0 victory for Saudi Arabia, courtesy of early goals from Hammam Al Hammami and Feras Al Brikan. While the UAE national team fell short in the final, they concluded the tournament with a strong showing under new head coach Zlatko Dalic, having secured victories against Yemen, Bahrain, and Oman throughout the campaign. Following this performance, the UAE squad is now setting their sights on the 2027 Asian Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia early next year.
