UAE Condemns Deadly Airstrike on Humanitarian Aid Convoy in Sudan
The United Arab Emirates has issued a firm condemnation following a lethal aerial strike on two World Food Programme (WFP) trucks in Sudan’s South Kordofan State. The convoy, which was traveling between Dilling and Kadugli to deliver essential food supplies, came under fire in an incident that tragically claimed the life of one of the drivers. In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored the critical necessity of shielding relief personnel from harm, stressing that humanitarian aid must remain protected and strictly neutral, never to be used as a political tool or weapon of war.
Beyond the immediate condemnation of the attack, the UAE reiterated its call for a comprehensive resolution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The nation is advocating for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire and the urgent opening of channels for humanitarian aid to reach those in desperate need. Furthermore, the UAE expressed its firm support for a transition toward a civilian-led government that remains independent of current warring factions. By emphasizing the need for peace, the Ministry signaled its commitment to easing the humanitarian crisis and helping the Sudanese people achieve long-term stability and security.
