Dubai’s Street Signs to Get a Colorful Makeover Inspired by Local Landscape
Dubai is set to overhaul its navigation infrastructure with a vibrant new system of street signs, area markers, and house plates. Starting late 2026, the city will begin a phased rollout across 186 neighborhoods, aiming for full implementation by 2030. These new designs are more than just cosmetic; they use a specific color-coded system to reflect the character of the surroundings, such as blue to signify coastal regions and gold to represent desert landscapes.
The project, spearheaded by the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning, the RTA, and Dubai Municipality, aims to simplify navigation for both residents and visitors. A major highlight of the update is the introduction of QR codes on all house number plates, which will allow users to instantly access details about the sector, local points of interest, and the property’s Makani number. As the initiative expands, this modern visual identity will eventually be integrated into bus stops, mobile apps, and public area maps, ensuring a more cohesive and user-friendly experience across the emirate.
