UAE Faces Unusual Heat as Temperatures Climb Above Seasonal Norms
Even as the UAE transitions into the cooler autumn months, residents are currently contending with temperatures roughly 3°C to 4°C higher than the typical seasonal average. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, noted that while the weather has generally improved, daytime highs are still hitting between 37°C and 43°C—well above the expected mid-30s range. This lingering heat, alongside high humidity levels exceeding 80% in coastal regions, is driving frequent morning fog, a common occurrence for this time of year as the nation navigates its traditional seasonal shifts.
Meteorologists are attributing this persistent warmth to the El Nino phenomenon, which is expected to intensify throughout the final quarter of the year. While the cycle is a natural occurrence, its influence on the Arabian Peninsula is anticipated to bring not just sustained warmth, but also a higher probability of above-average rainfall in the coming weeks. Although the country is currently moving toward more moderate conditions, experts remain watchful, noting that while El Nino can create unpredictable weather extremes, the arrival of stronger winds and specific seasonal shifts should eventually help usher in a more comfortable climate as winter approaches.
