Dubai Commuters Can Now Travel Using QR Codes on Metro and Buses

Sat, Oct 10, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a convenient digital upgrade for public transport users, allowing commuters to bypass traditional paper tickets. Passengers can now access the Dubai Metro, trams, and buses by simply scanning a QR code generated directly on their smartphones. This new feature is designed to streamline the travel experience, particularly for tourists and occasional riders who no longer need to worry about purchasing or carrying physical red Nol tickets.

To utilize this service, travelers can generate their unique QR code through the Nol Pay or S’hail mobile applications. Once generated, the code can be scanned at the blue-colored entry gates found throughout the transit network. The system is specifically tailored for single-trip or short-term travel, with fares calculated automatically based on the zones traversed. This digital shift marks a significant step forward in Dubai’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure, offering a seamless and paperless way to navigate the city’s public transport system.
