KHDA Sets New Standards for Dubai School Inspections
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has rolled out a fresh, data-driven approach for the current academic year’s school inspections in Dubai. While maintaining the core standards of the UAE School Inspection Framework, these new evaluations prioritize four critical pillars: the quality of early childhood education, the academic success of Emirati students, the effectiveness of inclusive education for students of determination, and the proficiency of Arabic language instruction. By utilizing AI-powered tools, the KHDA aims to create a more responsive inspection process that considers each school's unique stage of development and its specific community needs.
This updated framework moves away from a one-size-fits-all model, instead opting for either comprehensive performance reviews or targeted follow-up visits based on individual school data. A major shift in this cycle is the introduction of a 24-hour notice policy for all inspections, a move designed to capture the authentic, day-to-day reality of classroom life and student wellbeing. By fostering closer partnerships between regulators, schools, and parents, the KHDA hopes to drive continuous improvement, ensuring that the high standards seen in recent years—where 81 percent of students already attend schools rated "Good" or better—continue to rise across the emirate.
