UAE Residents Propel Dubai’s Theme Park Growth Amid Shifting Tourism Trends
Dubai’s entertainment sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience as local residents step in to sustain visitor numbers, effectively offsetting the dip in international tourism caused by regional instability. Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, noted that domestic families have become a primary driver for major attractions like Global Village and Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR). Recognizing this shift, the group tailored specific events and promotions to meet the needs of residents, a strategy that proved highly successful. Eiroa emphasized that even during challenging times, families are seeking meaningful ways to spend time together, leading to a surge in attendance that, in some instances, even exceeded pre-closure levels.
To capitalize on this sustained local interest, Dubai Holding Entertainment utilized the recent seasonal downtime to fast-track facility upgrades and introduce fresh experiences. Visitors can now enjoy a diverse array of new features, including the "Tokyo Rush" roller coaster at Global Village and over 14 new attractions at Riverland, such as an expanded go-kart track and high-end driving simulators. Furthermore, the popular T-rex luxury glamping experience at DPR is returning for a full season, offering families a unique, all-inclusive stay. With further expansions planned for Roxy Cinemas and new theatrical shows at MotionGate, the company remains optimistic about a robust season ahead, driven by a commitment to providing world-class entertainment for the local community.
