Dubai Police Instrumental in Dismantling Violent International Crime Syndicate
Dubai Police recently played a pivotal role in a massive, multi-agency international crackdown on the "Lyons Clan," a notorious and violent organized crime group originating from Glasgow. Known as Operation Armorum and spearheaded by Spain’s Guardia Civil, the mission resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals across several countries, including an apprehension made by Dubai authorities at the airport following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice. An additional 20 suspects currently remain under investigation in Spain as global law enforcement continues to tighten its grip on the network.
The operation was a major success for international intelligence, drawing in support from the UAE Ministry of Interior, Europol, the UK’s National Crime Agency, and the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Investigators revealed that the Lyons Clan had morphed into a sprawling transnational entity involved in large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering. By utilizing sophisticated financial schemes and a web of shell companies, the group successfully laundered illicit proceeds across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This collaborative effort not only dismantled the group's operational structure but also led to the seizure of significant assets, underscoring the effectiveness of global cooperation in dismantling complex, borderless criminal organizations.
