UAE Coast Guard Earns Praise for Daring Maritime Rescue Mission
The Chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, recently extended his official gratitude to the UAE for their successful rescue of 22 Asian sailors caught in an oil tanker fire within the Arabian Gulf. In a formal letter to the Speaker of the UAE’s Federal National Council, Saqr Ghobash, Al Saleh commended the UAE National Guard’s Coast Guard Group for their rapid deployment and professionalism. He emphasized that the operation highlighted the team’s unwavering dedication to maritime safety and their immediate readiness to protect human life during emergencies.
Following the incident, which occurred on October 10 involving the MT GEM No. 2, all 22 crew members were safely accounted for and confirmed to be in stable condition by the Indian Consulate in Dubai. Beyond the rescue itself, Al Saleh stressed the urgent need for enhanced regional collaboration to secure critical shipping routes and ensure the safety of commercial vessels. By fostering such cooperation, he noted that the international community can better safeguard global energy supplies and maintain the stability of maritime trade, which remains essential for global economic peace.
