Major Infrastructure Boost Planned for Abu Dhabi’s Mussafah District
The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at transforming travel across the Mussafah industrial zone. Spanning 13 kilometres, the initiative focuses on upgrading key arteries like the E30 and 8th Street to create a more efficient traffic flow between major hubs, including Zayed City and Mohamed Bin Zayed City. A standout feature of the development is a new three-lane highway on 8th Street, which will be flanked by dedicated service lanes to ensure that local business access remains uninterrupted by through traffic.
Beyond road capacity, the project emphasizes enhanced connectivity and public safety through the addition of two new bridges connecting Mussafah to Mohamed Bin Zayed City and a dedicated pedestrian bridge to protect those on foot. With significant modifications planned for nine major junctions and four interchanges on the E30, the project is designed to streamline logistics and daily commuting. As Eng. Eisa Mubarak Al Mazrouei noted, these upgrades are vital for supporting the region's economic growth and long-term development. Looking ahead, this initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi's broader vision, which includes future plans for an undersea tunnel link to further integrate Mussafah into the emirate’s evolving transport network.
