Etisalat UAE Pioneers World’s First 5.5G Technology for Blazing Fast Uploads

Tue, Oct 13, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Etisalat UAE has officially set a new global benchmark by launching an advanced 5.5G smartphone network feature that triples typical upload speeds. By integrating 2×2 uplink MIMO with carrier aggregation, the network allows compatible mobile devices to transmit multiple data streams across various frequency bands simultaneously. This technical evolution is specifically designed to handle the increasing demands of high-resolution content sharing, large file transfers, and the rapid data exchange required by modern AI-powered applications.

This rollout highlights a major shift in how mobile networks are engineered, moving away from a primary focus on download speeds to address the rise of cloud-based and real-time AI tools. As users increasingly rely on smartphones to feed data into artificial intelligence for image analysis or document processing, the need for robust uplink performance has become critical. According to Marwan Bin Shakar, Chief Technology Officer at etisalat UAE, this global first ensures that their network infrastructure is evolving alongside user habits, providing the necessary capacity for the next generation of data-intensive mobile experiences.
