Abu Dhabi Issues Strict Warning: Dh30,000 Fine for Window Obstructions

Wed, Oct 14, 2026(56m ago)UAE

Abu Dhabi Civil Defence has issued a stern reminder to residents and property owners regarding the dangers of blocking upper-floor windows. Installing iron grilles or fencing that prevents access to windows above the ground floor is strictly prohibited, as these barriers can severely hinder firefighters and rescue teams during critical emergencies. Those found in violation of these safety regulations face a substantial fine of Dh30,000, in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 24 of 2012.

These safety mandates apply to both new construction projects and existing buildings, underscoring the government's commitment to maintaining clear access points for emergency services. While the rule does not apply to private, independent villas or residential homes, it remains a mandatory requirement for apartment complexes and commercial structures. Property owners and developers are urged to review their installations immediately to ensure they align with civil defence standards, ensuring that life-saving operations can be performed without unnecessary delays.
