UAE experiences dramatic weather as hail and thunderstorms hit across the country
The UAE witnessed a dramatic shift in weather this past Monday as heavy rains, lightning, and even hailstorms swept across several eastern and inland regions. Residents captured striking scenes of white hailstones blanketing the desert sands in areas like Mleiha, Al Madam, and Al Ukhaidir, while intense downpours triggered muddy runoff near Hatta and mountainous terrains. The atmosphere was further energized by vivid lightning strikes, with social media footage showcasing spectacular bolts illuminating the evening sky over Sharjah, prompting authorities to issue urgent safety warnings.
Looking ahead, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has cautioned that the unsettled conditions are far from over, with more showers expected throughout the week. The forecast suggests that rainfall may expand into inland territories, including parts of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Al Dhafra region. Meteorologists have warned of potential thunderstorms, gusty winds, and blowing dust, which could significantly impact visibility. As a result, officials are urging the public to exercise extreme caution on the roads, avoid flash-flood-prone areas near wadis, and rely solely on official weather updates to stay informed during this period of unstable weather.
