Dubai’s Bold Vision: Planting 3.5 Million Trees by 2040
Dubai is embarking on a major environmental transformation, setting a goal to plant 3.5 million trees and expand its green space to 187 square kilometers by 2040. As part of a broader urban development strategy, the city aims to provide 11 square meters of greenery per person while drawing 95 million annual visitors to its recreational parks. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted these plans during the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, emphasizing that the city’s proactive approach to urban planning remains a cornerstone of its global reputation.
Beyond environmental growth, the city is aggressively modernizing its infrastructure and public services to maintain its status as a top-tier global hub. This comprehensive roadmap includes ambitious targets such as achieving zero landfill waste, integrating advanced artificial intelligence into city management, and upgrading drainage systems via the Dh30 billion "Tasreef" project. With a focus on smarter construction technologies and maintaining its standing as the world's cleanest city, Dubai is positioning itself to effectively navigate future challenges while ensuring an exceptional quality of life for its residents and visitors alike.
