UAE Bolsters Economic Resilience as Aldar Properties Diversifies Beyond Real Estate
At a recent industry forum, Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group CEO of Aldar Properties, emphasized the UAE's enduring appeal as a magnet for international capital and corporate expansion. Highlighting the nation’s economic stability, Al Dhiyebi noted that global firms are increasingly using the UAE as a strategic hub for regional operations rather than just a place to park assets. To complement this growth, Aldar has shifted its business model away from a sole focus on property development, branching out into logistics, private credit, commercial retail, and hospitality. This strategic pivot, coupled with international ventures in London and Egypt, has fortified the company’s revenue streams, even as it maintains a disciplined approach to new project launches amid fluctuating market conditions.
Meanwhile, UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri underscored a broader national shift toward supply chain security and economic self-reliance. Acknowledging that global volatility has permanently altered the business landscape, the Minister noted that the government is now prioritizing the creation of robust, domestic production systems to insulate the country against future disruptions. By focusing on strategic clusters like food processing, aerospace, defense, and data industries, the UAE aims to streamline inter-emirate coordination. A key highlight of this strategy is the effort to bolster food security—where the nation is incentivizing local agricultural production and shelf-space for home-grown goods—ensuring the country remains resilient and competitive in an unpredictable global market.
