Dubai’s Al Satwa Roundabout Transformed into Signalised Intersection to Slash Commute Times
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially completed its project to convert the Al Satwa Roundabout into a fully signalised intersection, marking a significant milestone in local infrastructure upgrades. By replacing the old roundabout, the RTA reports that commuters are now experiencing a 50 percent reduction in journey times, while traffic congestion and vehicle queuing during peak hours have dropped by as much as 60 percent. These improvements, paired with wider infrastructure enhancements, have significantly streamlined the flow of vehicles traveling between 2nd December Street, the Trade Centre, and the surrounding Al Satwa neighborhood.
Beyond general traffic relief, this upgrade is designed to enhance public transport efficiency by making it easier for buses to navigate the area. The project also provides better connectivity to major thoroughfares, including Sheikh Zayed Road, and improves access to key districts such as Al Bada'a, Al Jafiliya, and Jumeirah. This initiative works in tandem with the ongoing World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, reflecting the city's broader strategy to modernize its road network and ensure smoother, more reliable transit for residents and visitors traveling between Dubai's busiest corridors.
