Zayed National Museum to Explore 7,000 Years of Camel History
The Zayed National Museum is set to launch its inaugural temporary exhibition, "Tracks Through Time: The Camel in Society, Trade and Art," in December 2026. This landmark event offers a comprehensive look at the 7,000-year relationship between humans and camels in the UAE and the surrounding region. By blending scientific research with cultural storytelling, the exhibition traces the journey of the camel from its Neolithic wild origins to its modern-day status as a symbol of prestige in racing and beauty competitions.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to view rare artifacts, including Neolithic and Bronze Age camel remains from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, marking the first time such evidence of extinct wild species has been presented to the public. Beyond archaeological findings, the showcase features 3,000-year-old rock art, historical literature, and interactive displays of intangible heritage, such as traditional camel calling and oral testimonies. Alongside the exhibits, the museum will host a variety of workshops, tours, and family-friendly programming, aiming to deepen the public's connection to the UAE’s rich desert legacy.
