Tragedy in Abu Dhabi: Mother and Son Killed in Highway Collision

Thu, Oct 15, 2026(4h ago)UAE

A devastating road accident in Abu Dhabi claimed the lives of a Bangladeshi mother and her 15-year-old son on Monday evening, October 12. The family was en route to a social gathering near Al Wathba Bridge when their vehicle was violently struck from behind by a speeding car. The force of the collision caused the father, Swaroop Kanti Biswas, to lose control, resulting in the car crashing into a roadside barrier. Sadly, Oshima Chowdhury and her son, Orittro Bishawsh, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Mr. Biswas, who was behind the wheel during the incident, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical care. He has since been discharged, while the bodies of his wife and son are currently being held at the central morgue in Baniyas. Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi are currently assisting the grieving family and members of the local community with the necessary legal procedures and funeral arrangements to repatriate the victims to their hometowns in Chattogram.
