Thick Fog and Potential Rain Forecast for the UAE

Fri, Oct 16, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Early this morning, a dense blanket of fog descended across the UAE, creating hazardous driving conditions for commuters from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah. Visibility was severely restricted, prompting local police to issue urgent traffic advisories urging motorists to slow down and remain vigilant as they navigated the roads. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) maintained red and yellow alerts throughout the morning, as the fog made it difficult to spot even the closest road signs.

Looking ahead, the weather is expected to transition from fair to partly cloudy, with the NCM predicting possible rainfall in southern and eastern regions by the afternoon due to forming convective clouds. While Friday night and Saturday morning might see a return of humidity and localized mist, daytime temperatures are set to remain warm, hovering around 37°C in major cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. Residents should also watch for moderate winds reaching up to 45kmph, which could trigger dust storms and further impact visibility across the country.
