Sharjah Enhances Connectivity with New Etihad Rail Bus Routes
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has officially launched three new bus routes designed to streamline travel to the Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid. By connecting the station to Al Madam, Al Sajaa, and Sharjah city, the authority aims to create a more integrated public transport network. Since Al Dhaid officially joined the national rail grid on September 30, these shuttle services serve as a vital link, offering commuters a practical way to access the rail network connecting Sharjah with neighboring emirates like Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.
This infrastructure push extends beyond Sharjah, as Dubai is also prioritizing seamless transit between its metro and rail systems. Recently, a new climate-controlled pedestrian bridge was opened to connect the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station with the Dubai Al Yalayis Etihad Rail Station. Commuters can now transition between the two services in under seven minutes using moving walkways, though a shuttle bus service remains available as an alternative. These developments reflect a broader UAE-wide initiative to bridge the gap between local metro systems and the national railway, ultimately making inter-emirate travel more accessible for everyone.
