Dubai’s Global Medical Hub Bridges Gap in Healthcare Access
The World Health Organization’s logistics center in Dubai has proven vital to international relief efforts, successfully shipping essential medical supplies to 74 nations between 2025 and 2026. This achievement was highlighted during the 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo, where UAE officials underscored their commitment to humanitarian aid, particularly regarding air cargo missions to Gaza. Beyond logistics, the UAE continues to advocate for the safety of medical personnel and the preservation of critical healthcare infrastructure in conflict-stricken regions.
Domestically, the UAE has achieved significant milestones, including securing the highest Universal Health Coverage service index in the region and successfully eliminating industrial trans fats from its food supply. To ensure future readiness, the nation has launched a comprehensive health workforce strategy for 2026–2030 and is developing a national health insurance system to improve service sustainability. Parallel to these efforts, the UAE remains a global leader in polio eradication, contributing over $525 million since 2011 to support vaccination programs in countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan, while championing international partnerships to strengthen global disease surveillance and primary healthcare.
